The Lissome’s Edition N°4: Love Ethic pays tribute to bell hooks’ influential work, All about Love: New Visions. Moving beyond the confines of romantic love, the author explores love as the foundation of life that touches on everything – love of self and others (and the more than human world), societal frameworks, the material world, justice, values and spirituality, as well as experiences of loss and healing. She advocates for a cultural shift towards a love ethic, affirming everyone’s right to freedom and a fulfilling life.

Inspired by bell hooks’ heartfelt wisdom, we envision a world where love ethics permeate every aspect of our lives, fostering collective care. We’d like to invite you to join us in contemplating this transformative possibility in our latest print edition, discovering love as a powerful antidote for our challenging times, softening hearts and opening new possibilities to thrive.



THE LISSOME is an award-winning independent magazine envisioning holistic (fashion) futures, by bringing forward a culture of regeneration, compassion and cooperation and placing human and non-human wellbeing first. The magazine provides a nourishing space for conversations and contemplation within the interdisciplinary framework of design (ranging from fashion, arts and crafts, architecture, farming, ecology and Indigenous wisdom).

With its headquarters in Berlin, it is created in collaboration with writers, photographers and artists from around the world and published annually by THE LISSOME non-profit organization. THE LISSOME is designed by Lissome Studio, a creative practice known for its thoughtful and refined approach to creative direction, print media, photography and branding.

Naming the magazine after the 18th-century word “lissome” meaning “gentle, calm, gracious, kind”, we set out to tell our stories in a gentle and joyful way, by means of beauty, manifesting the energy we would like to see in the world. We believe that beauty nourishes and guides our souls by connecting us to the ultimate mystery and sacredness of life, and the wonder of being alive.
